Winter Park Charges Up With New Stations for Electric Cars

Three-week-old Evhan Monroe doesn't get around much, but when he does travel, it's in the back seat of an electric car.

He's "never been in anything but" his parents' Nissan Leaf, said his dad, Shannon Monroe.

If officials in Winter Park have their way, there will be many Evhan Monroes in the city's future. The Monroes were present at a Tuesday ceremony as the city made six new charging stations available for people who drive electric vehicles such as the Leaf.

"This is obviously the future, and it starts right here in Winter Park," said Mayor Kenneth Bradley.

The stations are at the Winter Park Public Safety facility; north of Central Park; municipal parking lot A; City Hall; Azalea Lane tennis complex; and Hannibal Square Heritage Center.
