Stetson University was one of 165 colleges and universities nationwide recognized Nov. 18 by the National Wildlife Federation for its climate change and sustainability initiatives.
Stetson specifically was cited for a carbon audit conducted by students that inventoried campus greenhouse gases.
The recognition comes as part of the National Wildlife Federation’s new “Generation E: Students Leading for a Sustainable, Clean Energy Future” study, which highlights the role college students are playing in reforming sustainability programs that lower their campus’ carbon footprint.
The report highlights 165 campus examples in 46 states.
Stetson University in DeLand, founded in 1883, has more than 2,260 undergraduates from 44 states and 42 foreign countries.
